Curlews: 7th February 2022

Monday 7th February 2022

Good morning and welcome to home learning. I will miss having the children in school and hope that we can replicate the 'in-class' learning in the best way that we can.  You will find lesson slides and activities below. If you do not have access to a printer,  please do not worry and simply record on paper. Do message me at any point if you need further clarification.

English - Talk for Writing

Today is the second week of our Talk for Writing unit which is based on warning tales. Last week, we internalized our model text,  'Katie Morag Delivers the Mail' so we knew the tale by heart. This week, it is the innovation phase, where the children will alter words and phrases to make the story their own.

Below, you will find a set of slides for the whole week. You will find any supporting materials, such as worksheets listed under the correct day.

Maths

Monday - Thursday's Maths lessons begin with a 'Mastering Number' session. The slides for these four sessions can be found at the start of the main lesson slides. On Friday, the children can recap on the skills covered from Monday - Friday.

In terms of the main part of the lesson,  we begin our new unit all about Statistics! The unit spans two weeks and involves tallies, pictograms and block graphs. Monday's set of slides refers to Monday and Tuesday's learning, whilst Wednesday's set of slides refers to Wednesday and Thursday's learning. Friday's slides stand alone.
Topic - History

Today, we will be learning about the legacy of granite quarrying in the Mabe region ahead of our visit to Trenoweth next Monday. Please see the slides and activity below.

English - Talk for Writing

Please refer to Monday's slides for today's lesson and for the rest of the week. Ideally, I would like the children to write out their own innovations in full, however, if this is proving too challenging, I do have a cloze 'missing words/phrases' document below for support. Please note that I do not expect the children to write the whole story in one session; they have a different element of the text to write each day.
