# Puffin Class - Spring 1 - Week 7 2022

Home Learning for children who are isolating
14th - 17th February 2022
Tuesday 15th February 2022

Maths - We are currently learning about fractions in maths. Today we have been revisiting making a whole. The children need to find the missing fraction of the pair to make a total of one. See activity sheet below.

English - We have been working on learning our model text (a copy can be found below). The children should create a text map of the model text.

History - As part of our Shang Dynasty topic we have been exploring early Shang writing. Use the Shang symbols fact sheet (below) to complete the activity below.

Maths - We are continuing our work on fractions in maths. Today we will be looking at find fractions of an amount.
Unit Fractions (fractions with 1 as the numerator)
Step 1 - divide the amount by the denominator.
E.g. 1/4 of 20
20 ÷ 4 = 5
So 1/4 of 20 = 5

Non-unit Fractions (fractions where the numerator is greater than 1)
Step 1 - divide the amount by the denominator.
Step 2 - multiple the answer by the numerator.
E.g. 3/4 of 20
20 ÷ 4 = 5
5 x 3 = 15
3/4 of 20 = 15

English - In class we have started our class innovate. Use the template below to plan a newspaper report on our school trip.

PE - Today is our PE day, you can find a selection of activity ideas below.

History - In class we have also begun creating our double-page spreads on the Shang Dynasty to show off all we have learnt. Here are some clips that might help refresh your memory:

English - In class we have started to write our class innovate. Using the plan you wrote yesterday write a newspaper report on the Puffin School Trip. Remember to write in 3rd person using, make sure you use 'they', rather than 'we'. Below is an example we have started in class. (Remember you can magpie, some of it, all of it or none of it.)

PSHE - Today we are thinking about our achievements and contributions. There are a number of ways you could present this:
• Create a poster
• Create a poem of achievements and how it feels when we achieve something or of ways we can all contribute.
• Use the trophy below and fill it with achievements and contributions - this can be in words and/or pictures.

History - If you have not finished your double-page spread on the Shang Dynasty, spend some time doing this today.
