Our Wider Offer

At Mabe we strive for children to be the best that they can be, not just in their learning, but in their wider personal development. As such, we offer an exciting variety of trips, residentials and visitors plus sporting activities during our PE provision in school as well as extracurricular clubs after schools and at lunchtimes.

Some of our exciting wider offer opportunities include:

  • Granite Planet indoor climbing: Our lower key stage 2 children attend weekly indoor climbing sessions as part of their PE lessons. This adventurous sport not only builds children’s strength but also their self-confidence and resilience.
  • Helford Passage Sailing: Key stage 2 children enjoy a term of sailing as part of their PE provision. Children extend their knowledge of our local geography as well as gaining valuable skills in team work and communication.
  • Surfing: In upper Key Stage 2 children attend intensive surfing sessions during PE and can choose to attend after-school surf lessons. Valuable beach and sea safety is taught and children have the opportunity to explore the beautiful Cornish coast.
  • Residential trips. In year 4 and 6 children attend residential trips both locally at Porthpean and to Barton Hall PGL camp in Devon. Children participate in a wide variety of activities from raft building to abseiling, archery to orienteering. The camps give the children the chance to experience independence in a safe environment and create wonderful memories with their peers.
  • Forest School. In 2022 we developed an area of our grounds into a Forest School which all years across the school have regular access to. Our forest school team also run after-school and lunchtime clubs to allow children to interact with the natural environment and gain valuable problem-solving skills.

Our extracurricular after schools clubs change on a termly basis but just some of the exciting clubs we have on offer include: Art club, Choir, Forest School, Lego club, Scooter club, Board games club, Science club, Gardening club, Netball, football and Basketball club, Running club and many more!

As part of our curriculum, we include trips to some amazing locations across Cornwall to support learning in the classroom and bring subjects to life. These include: Pendennis Castle, a local Quarry in Mabe, Trevaskis Farm, The National Maritime Museum, Truro Museum, The Eden Project, Local beaches, Newquay zoo and many more!
